Newborn Session Collection $1600

Includes 4 full sessions at the timing of your choice within the first 18 months of your little one's arrival!

We will need a spot in your home that lets in a lot of natural light. We can take a look around together when I arrive to determine the best place. Occasionally we may need to move furniture or other items around to make room. Make sure you clear any rooms of clutter that you want to highlight in the photos (nursery/your bedroom/living room/etc). Also be thinking of what props you may want to include in the photos.

Make sure to feed your little one right before the session.

Keep your home extra warm, this keeps your baby content as well as gives us the opportunity to get shots of them unbundled!

Maternity Tips

I recommend that you schedule your maternity portrait session in the late second or early third trimester (32-36 weeks). You want to be clearly showing but still feel comfortable enough to enjoy the process. Earlier than that and the belly may not be prominent enough, later than that and you may feel uncomfortable. But every woman and every pregnancy is different, so listening to your body is always a good idea.

The session itself can take place outdoors at a location of your choosing. Outfit changes are welcomed and encouraged!

Newborn Tips

I suggest minimal wardrobe for newborn sessions, keep wardrobe super simple. You don’t want your clothing to overshadow the precious little person that we’re showcasing. I recommend grey, black, and white for these shoots and preferably no prints. Casual clothing is perfect and bare feet look most natural in a home setting.

I recommend that you keep your home a bit warmer than normal during the session. (Like a toasty 80 degrees or so.) Newborns are used to being all bundled up,warm + cozy!

Have music on for white noise for baby or if they are accustomed to a very quiet home, no noise is fine as well.

When is the best time to take newborn photos? Newborns under two weeks old tend to be very sleepy and easy-going. If they are fed and warm, babies don’t mind that they are not being held during the photo session. Another reason that babies are best photographed within the first two weeks is they look more like newborns. They curl up with their legs tucked under and their tiny little hands like to be up by their face. As newborns get older, they stretch out and don’t like being confined so much.

Sometimes, for whatever the reason, newborns can’t be photographed within the first 2 weeks. And that’s totally okay. Of course newborns can be photographed at 4 weeks, 6 weeks even 8 weeks. I might have to work a little harder to get the baby to sleep, or into a curled up pose, but oh-is-it-worth-it. Older newborns have filled out a little more, so they have chubbier cheeks and baby rolls. Adorable!
